Economic Policy Analysis and Management
DMPA was developed to build and strengthen capacity for macroeconomic policy analysis and management in Zambia in order to sustain the adjustment efforts of the Government and to generate economic growth.
The project has three specific objectives:
- To support the creation of the Directorate of Macroeconomic Policy Analysis within the Ministry of Finance to become an effective macroeconomic “think tank” for the Government of Zambia;
- To create sustainable human capacity for macroeconomic policy analysis and research, policy formulation and monitoring in support of the short term stabilization and long term adjustment programmes;
- To create sustainable institutional capacity for effective training in macroeconomic policy analysis and management training in Zambia.
The project had three components:
- Institutional development through the establishment and staffing of the DMPA
- In country, regional and overseas short term and on the job training
- Training of trainers and graduate training at the Economic Department st the University of Zambia
