The major aim of the AERC Collaborative Master’s Program in Economics was to raise the quality of economics education in sub-Saharan Africa to international standards, and relevant to African needs.
The goal of CMAP was to focus attention on the lack of post-graduate economics training through a program to strengthen Masters level education in the economics training area. Its expected results were to:
- Enlarge the pool of economists through postgraduate training in economics to include underrepresented regional partners and women
- Develop and implement short-term training courses as aprovision for a viable mechanism to facilitate continuousacquisition of new skills and knowledge for instructors inuniversities.
