On the 21st of July 2006 ACBF signed a grant for the funding Program of the Capacity Building Initiative for Poverty Reduction Programming, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation (PRIME) in Mozambique.
The PRIME Initiative was part of the Foundation’s efforts to enhance its support for poverty reduction processes as a response to specific African countries’ challenges in relation to second-generation PRS. Under the PRIME Initiative, the Foundation’s goals were to provide more systematic and targeted support to strengthen capacity for poverty reduction strategy processes. The PRIME Initiative specifically aimed to strengthen capacity for three clusters of functions, including: (i) Improved poverty analysis and profiling; (ii) Enhanced accountability including top-down as well as mutual accountability between donors and governments; and (iii) Generation and sharing of PRS-related cross-country knowledge at regional level.
