The PCP project was designed to build the needed capacity and strengthen Parliament’s support to members in performing their constitutional functions, including capacity building of the Parliamentary Services technical team for research and policy analysis capacity to service parliament in its oversight activities.
The project had the following objectives:
- provide project implementation capacity and support
- build greater research and policy analysis capacity and provide such support to parliament
- enhance oversight activities through improved committee systems, effective use of
- parliamentary mechanisms and strengthened technical support to committees;
- provide focused training for members and staff
- build capacity among members to address Africa integration dimensions and networking activities with national, regional and continental initiatives such as the AU and NEPAD;
- promote effective information dissemination and communication
- mainstream gender issues in parliament by strengthening the organisational development design and operations of the parliamentary structures
