In Dec 2010 the ACBF Executive Board approved an emergency grant of US$ 2,250,000 for three years to assist the Government of South Sudan (GoSS) in strengthening economic policy and public financialmanagement (PFM) in the post-independent South Sudan.In August 2011, ACBF provided technical support to the GoSS with the view to assistthe GoSS identifying urgent capacity needs and to propose appropriate strategies inorder to effectively perform the selected Government core functions.
The overall goal of the project is to strengthen macroeconomic and public financialmanagement, through two objectives:
- improving skills and competencies tosupport Public Financial Management and Fiduciary institutions; and
- strengthening systems in public institutions involved in core fiduciary management.
The project focuses on strengthening fiduciary functions through human andinstitutional support to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MoFEP),Ministry of Labor, Public Service and Human Resources Development (MoLPSHRD),Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) and the Audit Chamber.
