ABOUT THE INSTITUTION AND DEPARTMENT:
The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) is a specialized agency of the African Union responsible for Capacity development in Africa. It has a membership of 40 African countries as well as the African Development Bank (AfDB), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank. The Foundation was established in 1991 to address Africa’s severe capacity gaps. To date is has strengthened the capacities of 50,000+ public service officials, supported 70 higher learning institutions, established a network of 50 African think tanks and generated more than 500 knowledge products.
The Foundation has a current five-year strategy (2023-2027) which focuses on human capacity development and institution building in four impact areas: Climate Change & Energy productive Use, Economic and Social Governance, Agribusiness & Food Sovereignty, and Trade as an Engine for Economic Development.
The Economic and Social Governance (ESG) Unit, under the Programs and Impact Department of the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) implements programs aimed at achieving strategic pillar number four ‘Economic and Social Governance’ of ACBF’s Strategic Plan 2023-2027. The Unit’s main objective is to:
To actualize these strategic objectives, the unit is implementing several programs including Enhancing Leadership and Governance in Public Financial Management, African Finnish Partnership for Taxation Capacity in Africa and Capacity Development for Africa’s Strategic Transformation among others.
ROLE SUMMARY:
As a programme intern, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of programs activities under the ESG unit and ensuring the realization of programs outcomes in public finance, domestic revenue mobilization and public administration and policy coherence in Africa.
You will closely work with the Head of Economic and Social Governance, Programme Officer Economic and Social Governance, Elearning Specialist and other program staff to support the African Capacity Building Foundation mission. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual who is able to work within a team.

The Foundation will provide the interns with a monthly allowance. Interns shall be responsible for their own medical insurance coverage.
