Ambassador Anu Katarina Saxén is an experienced diplomat with more than two decades of service in senior leadership roles within the Government of Finland and is highly knowledgeable on development issues in Africa. Her career includes serving as Finland’s Ambassador to several African countries; Counsellor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Department for Africa and the Middle East, where she oversaw Development Policy and Foreign Trade; Senior Land Administration Specialist–Economist at the World Bank in Washington, DC; and Director of the Technical Assistance Office in the Directorate General (DG XVI) of the European Commission in Brussels. She has also held governance roles, including Board Chair of the Finland Agency for Technical, Industrial and Economic Cooperation and Board Member of Jaakko Pöyry Ltd, a consulting company focused on international business development.
