From 21 to 23 May 2025, ACBF joined its partner, the Centre for Inclusive Climate Change Adaptation for a Sustainable Africa (ICCASA), alongside government officials, development partners, researchers, and community leaders to launch ICCASA’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan and inaugurate its new headquarters in Syokimau, Kenya.

Through this partnership, ACBF is supporting ICCASA’s mission to promote disability-inclusive, community-driven responses to climate challenges across Africa. ICCASA operates at the intersection of research, advocacy, and implementation, with a focus on empowering marginalized groups and integrating traditional knowledge systems into climate action.
The three-day engagement featured the official presentation of the Strategic Plan and a stakeholder workshop in Nairobi. ACBF joined partners to unveil the office plaque and formally open the new facility. A networking reception followed, encouraging deeper collaboration around inclusive and locally led adaptation.
Participants also visited the HARE project in Nyamira County, one of ICCASA’s flagship initiatives, which supports women with disabilities through climate-smart agriculture and sustainable livelihoods. The event reinforced ICCASA’s core priorities including gender-responsive planning, resilience building, and knowledge exchange rooted in African realities.
